African Drumming
When I hear African drumming in the distance I feel pulled towards it. The traditional sound of African drumming awakens my Spirit, my body starts moving, The rhythm awakens me, I become part of the rhythm. I can let go of my mind and just be, be in the moment.

Playing the African drum, this same feeling happens. African drumming is very easy to learn, people who see think of themselves as unmusical, leave my classes surprised and elated that they could play the rhythms.

Playing the African drum, gives you a fantastic feeling of “oneness’ and relaxation. The beautiful natural materials of the drum under your hands and the deep base sound it makes, vibrates through your body, soothing and energizing you at the same time.

African drumming is played with the hands on wooden drums shaped like a vase and stand about 60 cm. tall.

African drumming music’s funky sound is built up out of several different rhythms played together. The rhythms are often very simple and easy to learn. Most African music groups have bells, shakers and base drums to deepen the sound.
